Master Jamie Cashion Named “Ambassador to the Martial Arts” by Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame

Houston, TX – (PRESS RELEASE) Master Jamie Cashion, a 7th degree black belt in American Karate and student of Grand Master J. Pat Burleson, was named an Ambassador to the Martial Arts by the Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame at the Seventeenth Annual UMAHoF Event in Houston, Texas, on August 3, 2013. Master Cashion was honored for his success in the martial arts as well as his dedication and involvement in the community, including over 25 years of teaching martial arts for free at various churches, recreation centers and schools. In 2011 Master Cashion took his dedication to a new level when he traveled to Uganda to work with orphans, and he plans to return to Africa in January, 2014.

The Universal Martial Arts Hall of Fame was founded by Professor Silverio Guerra, Ph.D., M.A. Professor Guerra holds 10th degree black belts in Shin-Ryu Karate and Kai No Kenson Ju-Jitsu and is the founder and Grand Master of Way of the Dragon Martial Arts Association and Kakuto Shin-Ryu Association.

In addition to American Karate, Master Cashion also excels in Tae Kwon Do and kickboxing and is the senior ranking black belt with Christian Soldiers Karate under Grand Master J. Pat Burleson. His work with the Fort Worth community frequently includes members of local martial arts organizations. In 2012 he gathered over 200 martial artists in full regalia to line the streets of downtown Fort Worth to shake hands with the families of local service members who had died in Iraq over the previous five years.

Master Cashion’s commitment to giving back to the community stems from nearly losing his life as a volunteer firefighter at age 16. In addition to his work with Christian Soldiers Karate, Master Cashion has worked with his local organizations as well as internationally. He has been recognized for his service by Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton with the Presidential Sport Award and by former State Senator Mike Moncrief with the Texas Martial Arts Award. In June 2013 Master Cashion was named a Hometown Hero in Fort Worth, Texas.
